Indian Railways has introduced a new application that consolidates all train services into a single platform

Indian Railways has launched a new SuperApp named ‘SwaRail’ aimed at enhancing the experience of train travelers. Developed by the Centre for Railway Information Systems, this innovative app consolidates various train-related services that were previously accessible through multiple applications into a single, cohesive platform.

The Railway SuperApp encompasses a range of functionalities for train travelers, including options for both reserved and unreserved ticket bookings, platform and parcel reservations, inquiries related to trains and PNR status, as well as support through Rail Madad. Currently, the app is in beta testing and can be accessed via the Google Play Store and Apple’s App Store, with a full rollout anticipated following the completion of public testing.

The SuperApp, which is currently available for beta testers, provides a variety of services once fully launched, including:

  • – Reserved Ticket Bookings
  • – Unreserved Ticket and Platform Ticket Bookings
  • – Parcel and Freight Inquiries
  • – Train and PNR Status Inquiries
  • – Food Orders on Trains
  • – Rail Madad for Managing Complaints

Indian Railways highlights that the newly launched SuperApp incorporates travel assistance functionalities such as Single Sign-On and streamlined onboarding processes to assist users with their travel inquiries related to Indian Railways. The key features of this app include:

Single Sign-On – This functionality enables users to access all Indian Railways services with a single set of login credentials. Furthermore, these credentials can be utilized across existing Indian Railways applications, including IRCTC RailConnect and the UTS Mobile App.

All-in-One App – The Ministry of Railways points out that, at present, separate applications are required for reserved and unreserved bookings, as well as for tracking train movements and schedules. The new app consolidates these services into a single, comprehensive platform.

Streamlined Onboarding/Sign-Up – The new app enables users to access the SuperApp with their current RailConnect or UTS App credentials. The sign-up process has been refined to improve user experience and ensure easy access to the app. After logging in, users can conveniently access the app using either an m-PIN or biometric authentication.

It will soon be accessible to all users. Once released, it can be downloaded from either the Play Store or App Store.

Current users of RailConnect or the UTS Mobile App can log in directly using their existing credentials. New users will have a straightforward registration process with minimal data entry needed.
