A mental health study has confirmed what many already suspected: working women in India are more stressed than men.

YourDost’s latest report, titled “Emotional Wellness State of Employees,” surveyed over 5,000 Indian professionals and provided insightful data on workplace stressors. The study revealed that women experience higher stress levels at work compared to men, with 72.2% of female respondents reporting high stress levels versus 53.64% of male respondents.

Additionally, more women reported struggling with work-life balance, with 18% of women highlighting this issue compared to 12% of men. Factors contributing to women’s stress include lack of recognition, low morale and fear of judgment.

Furthermore, 20% of women reported consistently feeling low, in contrast to only 9.27% of men. The report found that employees aged 21 to 30 are the most stressed. 64.42% reported high stress levels, followed by 59.81% of those aged 31 to 40. The least stressed group was aged 41 to 50, with 53.5% experiencing high stress levels.

Chief Psychology Officer at YourDost, noted that the shift to remote and hybrid work models has significantly impacted the 21-30 age demographic. She emphasized the importance of organizations prioritizing regular communication and engagement to support these employees.
