23 critical flaws discovered in AirPlay could expose users to remote hacking and data theft
Apple has issued an urgent warning to iPhone users worldwide, urging them to disable the AirPlay feature immediately following the discovery of multiple serious security vulnerabilities. These flaws, uncovered by cybersecurity firm Oligo, expose iPhones and other Apple devices to a major hacking risk, particularly when connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
According to reports, a total of 23 vulnerabilities collectively referred to as “AirBorne”, have been identified within Apple’s AirPlay protocol and its Software Development Kit (SDK). These flaws can allow hackers to remotely access, monitor, and potentially control devices without any user interaction.
What is AirPlay and Why Is It Risky Now?
AirPlay is a popular feature that enables Apple users to stream audio and video wirelessly to compatible devices such as TVs and speakers. However, these newly discovered vulnerabilities mean that devices using AirPlay can be hijacked by cyber attackers operating on the same wireless network.
