Jalgaon Rail Tragedy: 8 Killed After Jumping From Train Over Fire Scare
Jalgaon, Maharashtra: A tragic train accident claimed the lives of at least eight passengers near Paranda railway station in Maharashtra’s Jalgaon district on Wednesday. The incident occurred at 4:19 PM when passengers aboard the Pushpak Express, traveling from Lucknow to Mumbai, panicked after noticing smoke emanating from the train’s wheels.
Fearing a potential fire, several passengers jumped onto the tracks in a desperate bid to escape. Tragically, as they attempted to flee, they were struck by the Bengaluru Express, which was traveling on an adjacent track in the opposite direction.
“Some passengers of the Pushpak Express stepped down and were hit by the oncoming Karnataka Express,” said Swapnil Nila, Chief Spokesperson of Central Railway.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed his condolences over the incident and directed authorities to ensure proper medical treatment for the injured.
