The My Jio app features a hidden menu that allows users to effortlessly block spam calls and SMS with just one click. For Jio network users, blocking unwanted calls and messages is a straightforward process that can be accomplished with a simple click through the MyJio app.
The frequency of spam calls and SMS messages is increasing at an alarming rate.
The rise in spam calls can be attributed to several key factors. Advancements in technology is a prime factor. The cost-effectiveness and traceability of calls have improved significantly due to technological progress. During incidents of data breaches, phone numbers can be compromised and subsequently sold on the dark web. Scammers often exploit phone numbers found in public records or social media profiles to uncover additional personal information. Fraudsters frequently employ caller ID spoofing techniques to disguise their calls as coming from local or reputable numbers.
A recent survey by LocalCircles, which included 60,000 participants from 378 districts across India, revealed that over 60% of Indians experienced an average of three or more unwanted or spam calls each day in the past year.
For Jio network users, blocking unwanted calls and messages is straightforward through the MyJio app. With just a single click, users can fully block spam calls while still receiving essential messages and updates from brands, such as OTPs. Alternatively, they have the option to partially block these calls, allowing some advertisement calls to come through.
To prevent spam calls and SMS on the Jio network, it is necessary to activate the do not disturb (DND) services. Please note that while this will help in blocking spam communications, it may also restrict certain telemarketing calls.
Users have the ability to tailor the DND services by choosing specific categories of calls and messages to block. Available options encompass sectors such as banking, real estate, education, health, tourism, and others.
It is important to note that even with the full block option activated, you will still receive transactional calls and SMS from your service providers and government agencies.
Activating DnD
To access the settings, launch the MyJio app, navigate to the ‘More’ section, select ‘Do Not Disturb,’ and choose either the “fully blocked” option, the “promotional communication blocked” option, or customize your preferences as required.
