In a special enforcement drive conducted on the occasion of Holi, the Kalepadal Traffic Division recorded the highest number of drunk driving cases in Pune city. Acting against motorists driving under the influence of alcohol, the traffic police registered 35 cases and seized 35 vehicles during the late-night checking operation.

The special drunk-and-drive naka bandi (checkpoint) was set up at key locations under the jurisdiction of Kalepadal Police Station to prevent accidents and ensure road safety during Holi celebrations, when incidents of drunken driving typically increase.

According to Assistant Police Inspector Pravin Jadhav from Kalepadal Police Station, the enforcement team conducted strict breathalyzer checks on motorists suspected of driving under the influence. During the operation, 35 drivers were found to be intoxicated beyond permissible limits and were immediately booked under relevant provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act.

Authorities also seized the vehicles of the offenders as part of the action. Police officials stated that such strict enforcement measures are necessary to deter reckless behaviour and prevent road accidents during festive occasions.

The Kalepadal Traffic Division’s performance stood out across Pune city during the Holi enforcement drive, with the highest number of drunk driving violations detected in a single operation.

Police have appealed to citizens to celebrate festivals responsibly and avoid driving under the influence of alcohol, emphasizing that strict action will continue against violators to ensure public safety.
