Katraj hunger strike temporarily called off; PMC assures action on issues

Pune: The hunger strike in Katraj, which started on December 12, was called off temporarily on the 3rd day i.e. December 14.

As per information shared by Nikhil Sayed, Resident of Katraj & hunger strike participant, the hunger strike has been temporarily called off after the PMC authorities, along with PMC executive engineer Amar Shinde, gave a letter & assured people that the PMC administration would accept their demands & work on it.

Sayed further added that they have fixed a meeting with the PMC authorities next week about the issues. The hunger strike will be permanently called off only after the PMC assures them, officially in writing, about fast resolution of the issues on ground. Otherwise, the hunger strike will restart.

On December 12, an indefinite hunger strike had been called by Katraj citizens & Katraj Vikas Aghadi to protest against no developments in the area by the Pune Municipal Corporation and more issues –

Around 250 to 300 Katraj citizens had participated in this hunger strike which took place at Katraj Chowk.
