Keeping Kids Engaged in Lockdown
It has been one of the toughest period for children to grasp that their liberty of playing on the field, mingling with friends, eating at their favorite restaurants and watching their favorite movie would come to a halt suddenly due to outbreak of Covid19 pandemic.
But many children took this opportunity and focused on learning something new. Pune Pulse spoke to a few residents from the neighbourhood.
Sushma VVL, a resident of Planet Millennium said, “My children helped me in household chores, cooking & playing with each other. They learnt how to prepare chips & onion pakodas at home. My daughter learnt few Sanskrit shlokas & Hanuman Chalisa.”
Keya Sumit Waghmare, a resident of Leon Orbit society held a workshop on poetry writing. Her mother, Sejal said, “She held a poetry workshop which was an eye opener. It was a great learning experience. During this lockdown period she wrote a daily lockdown blog. She learnt more about her passion of writing and in every blog as she penned down was different from another.”
Sneha Chandak, a resident of Malpani Greens in Wakad shares, “I have keen interest in story telling and I shared stories and poems in audio format on whatsapp groups, teaching them related activities and projects to make the session interesting and interactive.”
Anjali Gupta’s 10 year old daughter, Advika has been keen on writing poems. “This period was aptly utilised by her in sharpening her writing skills. She read many articles. She dedicated a poem to me. I was overwhelmed by her words of appreciation,” she added.
