Ketan Agarwal Murder Case: Police Allege Siya Goyal's 'Sitting Down' Was The Signal For Fatal Push
Pune, June 29, 2026: Fresh details have emerged in the investigation into the alleged murder of Pune-based realtor Ketan Agarwal, with Pune Rural Police claiming that prime accused Siya Goyal used a pre-arranged signal to indicate the exact moment for co-accused Chetan Chaudhary to allegedly push Agarwal into a gorge at Lohagad Fort.
According to investigators, Goyal allegedly sat down on the pretext of either drinking water or tying her shoelaces. Police claim this action served as a signal for Chaudhary to approach from behind and push Agarwal off the cliff on June 18. Investigators further allege that the signal was deliberately chosen to ensure Goyal remained out of Agarwal’s reach during the attack, preventing the possibility of her being pulled into the gorge if he tried to hold onto her while falling.

Police also claim that the alleged murder was meticulously planned. According to the investigation, Goyal and Chaudhary had visited Lohagad Fort before the incident to identify a suitable location and conduct “practice sessions” to rehearse the execution of the alleged crime.
Investigators have further alleged that Chaudhary travelled nearly 90 kilometres from Pune to Lohagad Fort on a scooter instead of a car to avoid creating toll plaza records. Police also claim he wore a hoodie while climbing the fort to conceal his identity, removed it during the alleged attack while dressed in a black T-shirt, and put it back on before leaving the area.
As part of the ongoing investigation, Pune Rural Police recently recreated the crime scene at Lohagad Fort using a dummy to verify the sequence of events and corroborate evidence collected during the probe.
Meanwhile, a local court has remanded both accused, Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary, to police custody till July 3, allowing investigators additional time for custodial interrogation, recovery of evidence and verification of the alleged conspiracy.
The allegations made by the police are part of the ongoing investigation and are yet to be tested before the court.
