Pune, July 16, 2026: The investigation into the murder of Pune realtor Ketan Agarwal has taken a new turn, with Pune Rural Police probing claims that the two accused, Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary, had secretly married before the crime. In a parallel development, the Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has ordered the closure of a spice and dry fruits business operated by Goyal’s family over alleged violations of food safety regulations.

Police Investigate Alleged Secret Marriage

As part of the ongoing investigation, a team from Pune Rural Police visited the Khatu Shyam Temple in Rajasthan to verify reports that the accused had performed a private wedding ceremony at the temple before the murder.

Investigators also sought CCTV footage from the temple premises to corroborate the claim. However, temple authorities informed the police that no footage was available.

Police said the inquiry is part of routine investigation and have not confirmed whether the marriage actually took place. Both accused remain in judicial custody at Yerawada Central Jail, and further legal proceedings will continue after their custody period ends.

Victim’s Family Seeks Justice

Meanwhile, Ketan Agarwal’s mother, Rakhi Agarwal, has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging swift justice for her son. In her letter, she described the devastating impact of the murder on the family, saying every corner of their home reminds them of Ketan.

She also stated that Ketan’s grandfather passed away less than three weeks after the incident, allegedly unable to recover from the emotional trauma caused by his grandson’s death.

FDA Closes Goyal Family’s Business

In a separate action, the Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) directed the closure of M/s BG Goyal and Company, a spice and dry fruits shop located in Pune’s Market Yard and operated by Siya Goyal’s family.

During an inspection, FDA officials collected samples of turmeric powder, sesame seeds, and soybean chunks for laboratory testing. Authorities also seized 4,172 kg of food products worth approximately ₹8.14 lakh over suspected labelling violations and possible adulteration.

According to the FDA, the establishment was also found to be non-compliant with certain provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act, including issues related to mandatory licence documentation. The business has been ordered to remain closed until further notice, pending compliance and further action.
