Pune Police Launch ‘Mission Crackdown’; Illegal Liquor Dens, Gambling Racket Busted In Lohgaon
Pune, July 16, 2026: Pune City Police have launched a special enforcement drive, ‘Mission Crackdown’, in Zone 7 to curb illegal activities, organised crime, and anti-social elements. The initiative, launched under the guidance of Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar and supervised by DCP Abinash Kumar (Zone 7), aims to intensify action against illegal liquor sales, gambling, narcotics, extortion, illegal weapons, and other criminal activities.
As part of the drive, Lohgaon Police carried out a series of raids on July 15, leading to action against illegal liquor outlets and a gambling operation.
Illegal Liquor Seized from Two Hotels
In the first raid at Hotel Blue Diamond in Lohgaon, police seized Indian and foreign liquor worth ₹7,990, along with ₹2,000 in cash. A case was registered against the hotel operator and the owner.
In a second operation at Hotel Rajratna, officers recovered liquor valued at ₹4,005 and ₹11,530 in cash. Legal action has also been initiated against the establishment’s operator and owner.
Matka Gambling Racket Unearthed
Police also raided an illegal Matka gambling den operating behind a hotel in Lohgaon. Three persons were caught during the operation, and officers seized ₹10,890 in cash, gambling records, receipt books, and two mobile phones used in the operation.
Cases Registered, Six Accused Booked
Police have registered three cases under the Maharashtra Prohibition Act and the Maharashtra Prevention of Gambling Act, with six accused booked in connection with the raids. Further investigation is being carried out by Lohgaon Police.
Police Appeal For Public Support
Pune Police have appealed to citizens to report information related to illegal liquor sales, gambling, narcotics, illegal weapons, extortion, or other criminal activities. Officials assured that the identity of informants will be kept confidential.
The police said ‘Mission Crackdown’ will continue across Zone 7 with sustained action against criminal activities to enhance public safety and maintain law and order in the city.
