The ‘Khamree Mo Sikkim’ (Hello Sikkim) Car Rally spanning over 22 days was flagged in by Cmde Mohit Goel, Commanding Officer, INS Shivaji, Lonavala on 15 Oct 23. The car rally team commenced this memorable journey on 24 Sep 23 from INS Shivaji. 

The participants drove to Sikkim and back traversing through several States covering a distance of 6500 km. The expedition was covered in three legs. During leg one (Maratha Empire Leg), the team conducted outreach program at multiple schools and colleges such as Navodaya Vidyalaya in Mhow, Jai Academy in Jhansi, Lucknow Public School (LPS), Sainik School Amethi and Army Public School in Varanasi, fostering interactions with 15000 plus students. 

Several veterans were also felicitated and briefed on recent developments in the Indian Navy. The team also visited Infantry school at Mhow, Army Central Command, Lucknow and 17 Gurkha Training Centre at Varanasi and interacted with the personnel.

In the second leg (Himalayan Leg), the team ventured into Sikkim, starting from Bagdogra with cleanliness drive at Mahanadi River on 02 Oct 23 as part of Swachhata Abhiyan. They interacted with students at Modi Public School & Army Public School, Bagdogra, Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology, Paljor Namgyal Girls’ School at Gangtok. The participants had the privilege of meeting Hon’ble Governor of Sikkim, Shri Lakshman Prasad Acharya during this leg.

In the final leg (East Coast Leg), the rally team conducted outreach programme at Indian Maritime University (IMU)Kolkata, KIIT Bhubaneshwar and the border villages. The team also interacted with the Naval veterans at Bhubaneswar, Kolkata and Pune. In continuation with the vision of national leadership towards developing remote areas, ‘Khamree Mo Sikkim’ Car Rally served as a powerful tool of inspiration for the country’s youth in Sikkim and other states.The expedition was partnered with M/s Maruti Suzuki India Limited along with Indian Oil Corporation Ltd as fuel partner.
