Kinetic Green, led by CEO Sulajja Firodia Motwani, has set ambitious targets for the sales of its latest offering, the e-Luna, aiming to sell 100,000 units annually. This strategic move comes after the company’s reentry into the Indian two-wheeler market with the fully electric vehicle, which garnered significant attention. Motwani shared insights into the development of the e-Luna and outlined the company’s future plans in a recent interview with Financial Express Online.

Despite facing initial hurdles, Kinetic Green positioned itself as a pioneer in the Indian electric mobility sector. The company formally entered the two-wheeler market in 2020, following the expiration of a noncompete clause resulting from a two-year joint venture with Mahindra. Initially focusing on three-wheelers, Kinetic Green swiftly transitioned to two-wheelers, aligning with the growing interest in electric mobility solutions among consumers. Motwani cited a survey indicating that 25% of prospective two-wheeler buyers are considering electric options, underscoring the market’s evolving preferences.

In the interview, Motwani emphasized the company’s commitment to the electric scooter segment, ruling out plans to venture into electric motorcycles. With the e-Luna, Kinetic Green aims to capitalize on the burgeoning demand for electric scooters, viewing it as the more immediate opportunity. The company intends to prioritize the expansion and enhancement of its scooter lineup in the foreseeable future.

Kinetic Green’s aspirations for the e-Luna are bolstered by the success of its pilot project, where 30,000 units were sold in select cities in Maharashtra prior to the official launch. Of these, 15,000 units were purchased by last-mile and business-to-business service providers, leveraging e-commerce platforms for sales. The company’s optimistic sales targets reflect its confidence in the e-Luna’s market potential and its commitment to advancing electric mobility in India.
