Kondhwa Rape Case: Woman Stunned On Seeing Accused’s Photo, Pune Police Reveal Shocking Details
Pune: In a major twist to the Kondhwa assault case, police revealed that the alleged ‘courier boy’ was, in fact, a friend of the complainant. The woman, a software engineer, was left speechless for two minutes when shown the suspect’s photo and even asked police, “Where did you get this photo?” before denying knowing him, which raised suspicions.
Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar stated that there was no use of spray on the day of the incident and the selfie found on the woman’s phone was taken with consent. Investigations also revealed that the message written below the selfie was edited by the woman herself after the man left her house.
The accused, an employee of a reputed multinational company, had been in touch with the complainant for over a year. Their acquaintance began at a social gathering, and they remained in frequent contact through phone and social media. He had even been sending her food through delivery apps on several occasions.
CCTV footage showed the man entering the society around 7:15 PM and leaving at approximately 8:45 PM on the day of the incident. However, when police showed his photo to 44 other residents in the society, no one confirmed seeing him except at the complainant’s residence.
Despite these revelations, the woman has maintained in her statement that the man sexually assaulted her. Police have said the rape investigation is still ongoing.
