Lifeguard Failure: Despite Alarming Calls, 17-Year-Old Boy Drowns in Chikhali based Swimming Pool

In yet another drowning incident, a 17-year-old boy lost his life in a swimming pool located in the Chikhali area. 

The victim, identified as Rahul Mahantappa Vaghmode, was a resident of Morewasti, Chikhali. The incident occurred at the Sai Aqua Marine reservoir in Sambhajinagar, Chikhali, on Tuesday, 16 May.

The deceased, accompanied by a relative, went for a swim around 4 pm when the unfortunate event unfolded. 

As soon as the boy entered the pool, he found himself struggling in the deeper section of the water. Despite the relative’s attempts to raise an alarm and pull him out, they couldn’t save him informed officials.

 Later, the relatives rushed him to a nearby hospital, but he was pronounced dead upon arrival. The police have registered a case and have started investigation in the incident. As per primary report, there was no lifeguard present.

The complainant, Suraj Mallikarjun Vaghmode (29), filed a case at Chikhali Police Station, holding both the lifeguard and other individuals present at the reservoir responsible for the incident.

According to Senior Police Inspector Gyaneshwar Katkar, preliminary information indicates that Rahul, the younger brother of the complainant, visited the reservoir in Chikhali on Tuesday afternoon for a swim. Tragically, he faced difficulties while swimming, leading to his unfortunate drowning. The complaint alleges the absence of lifeguards and negligence by those present at the reservoir, contributing to Rahul’s untimely demise. The Chikhali police are currently conducting a thorough investigation into the matter.
