The Election Commission of India (ECI) has announced the schedule for the Lok Sabha Election 2024, with voting to be held in seven phases from April 19 to June 1. Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar revealed that polling for the 543 seats will take place across these phases, with the counting of votes scheduled for June 4.

During the press conference held in New Delhi, Kumar unveiled crucial details such as the voting dates and phases across different states. Additionally, the Election Commission also announced the dates for the Andhra Pradesh, Sikkim, and Odisha state Assembly polls.

Ahead of the announcement, the BJP released its second list of candidates for the Lok Sabha elections, with changes including the exclusion of at least 28 sitting MPs and the inclusion of three former Chief Ministers. Meanwhile, the Congress party has named a total of 82 candidates for the high-stakes Lok Sabha polls.

Given that the term of the current Lok Sabha ends on June 16, the constitution of a new House is imperative before this deadline. Stay tuned for further updates and insights into the upcoming elections.
