In the wake of the Lok Sabha Election results, which saw the INDIA bloc put up an impressive fight, a significant number of Muslim women gathered at the Uttar Pradesh Congress headquarters in Lucknow. The women assembled outside the office at 8:00 AM to demand the fulfillment of Rahul Gandhi’s pre-election promise of providing a monthly stipend of 8,500 rupees.

“We came here because we were supposed to receive 8,500 rupees monthly,” said one of the women, reflecting the collective anticipation and demand for the promised financial support.
These women brought with them the Congress ‘Guarantee Card’ they had received during the election campaign, filled with their personal details, and submitted them at the party office. Some women reported receiving receipts after submitting their guarantee cards, indicating an organized response to their requests.
This gathering follows the Congress’s manifesto promise of transferring 1 lakh rupees annually into the accounts of women from Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and backward classes. During the election campaign, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi highlighted this commitment, emphasizing the party’s focus on financially empowering women from marginalized communities.
“Our manifesto mentions three to four revolutionary steps taken by us like transferring Rs 1 lakh into (bank) accounts of women belonging to SC and ST categories, backward classes, and for women from poor families. This way we will provide thousands of rupees in their accounts every month,” Gandhi stated.
Additionally, Gandhi assured guaranteed apprenticeships for unemployed youths, further showcasing the party’s focus on social welfare and economic support.
As the results of the elections have now been declared, the gathered women are pressing for the realization of these promises, signaling a strong expectation for the Congress party to deliver on its pre-election commitments.
