Following a jab from Lalu Yadav about dynastic politics, the BJP has started a new social media trend called Modi Ka Parivar (“Modi’s Family”) ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. Senior Leaders Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP president JP Nadda were the first to change their social media profiles to “Modi ka Parivar” in support of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

This move came swiftly after Lalu Yadav’s remarks during the Rashtriya Janata Dal’s rally in Patna, where he questioned Modi’s stance on dynastic politics, even asking why Modi doesn’t have children if he’s against it. Shehzad Poonawalla, a BJP leader, also promptly changed his name to Shehzaad Jai Hand (Modi ka Parivar) in solidarity.

On social media platforms, including X (formerly Twitter), BJP leaders wrote messages like “Ham Hain Modi Ka Parivar, 140cr log hai Modi ka Parivar, Main hoon Modi Ka Parivar” to show their support.

This initiative aligns with Prime Minister Modi’s recent speech in Telangana’s Adilabad, where he emphasized that his “family” consists of all 140 crore Indians, irrespective of kinship. He stressed that he fights for the people of India and considers them as his own family, responding to opposition claims about his lack of a traditional family.

This campaign echoes the “Main Bhi Chowkidar” initiative from 2019, which gained momentum prior to the Lok Sabha elections.
