Lonavala Police Arrests Man For Stealing Valuables From Tourist Cars : Rs 12 lakh recovered

Pune: In a remarkable feat, Lonavala police arrested a man in just three hours after stealing valuables from tourist vehicles by breaking the car windows.

As per information, in areas like Lonavala, Varsoli, Malavali, Karla, and Bhaje, it has come to light that thieves were stealing valuables by breaking the windows of the cars belonging to tourists.

On Saturday (August 19), the police received two complaints regarding the theft of valuables from the owners of four-wheeler vehicles of tourists coming for tourism in the Varsoli area. While searching for the accused, the police examined the CCTV footage from Varsoli. In this, a man aged 30 to 35 years, was seen breaking the glass of the four-wheeler and stealing valuables from the car. Accordingly, during the search, it was found that the accused was moving in the Lohagad area in an Innova car number GJ 06 FC 3806.

The police detained him and recovered 8 mobile phones without SIM cards, 5 purses, 2 bags, 2 power banks, 2 watches, 22 thousand 900 rupees in cash and an Innova car worth a total of 12 lakh 11 thousand 100 rupees.

The arrested accused has been identified as Akhil Salim Vora. A case was registered against him under sections 379 & 427 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and produced in the court. The court has remanded the accused to police custody till August 22.

The police are investigating the matter further.
