The order was initially enforced from July 6 to August 31, 2026, across several popular tourist destinations in the Lonavala rural region to prevent traffic congestion and avoid potential accidents during the monsoon season due to a large influx of tourists.

The restrictions covered major tourist spots including Ekvira Devi Temple at Karla, Karla and Bhaja Caves, Bhaja Waterfall, Lohagad Fort, Visapur Fort, Tikona Fort, Tung Fort, Tiger Point, Lion’s Point, Shivling Point and Pavana Dam, among other locations.

After reviewing the situation, the district administration noted that rainfall intensity had reduced and normal activities had resumed. Following the improvement in conditions, Collector Jitendra Dudi issued a notification cancelling the Section 163 order dated July 6, 2026.

The decision will allow smoother movement for tourists and local residents visiting Lonavala’s popular monsoon destinations.
