Lonavala Waterfall Tragedy: Bodies of Five, Including Four Children, Recovered From Waterfall Near Bhushi Dam in Pune
The bodies of all five people who were swept away in a waterfall near Bhushi Dam in Pune were found on Monday, July 1. The last missing person, a four-year-old boy, was recovered in the evening, according to an official.
Local reports indicate that a family group of 11 from Pune’s Lonavala went for a walk near the waterfall on Sunday. Tragically, five members of the groupāa woman and four childrenāwere caught in the strong currents and died, while six others survived.
Senior Inspector Suhas Jagtap of Lonavala police station stated, “The body of Adnan Ansari was recovered on Monday evening, after which the search operation was called off.”
The victims have been identified as Shahista Ansari (36), Amima Ansari (13), Umera Ansari (8), Adnan Ansari (4), and Maria Sayyad (9).
The police reported that the deceased were part of a larger group of 16ā17 people from Sayyad Nagar in Hadapsar, Pune. The group, all related to one another, had been on a day’s picnic when the tragedy occurred.
