Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and his wife Amruta Fadnavis took a holy dip at Sangam, the sacred confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and mythical Saraswati rivers, on Friday. They also performed the Ganga Aarti as part of the Maha Kumbh celebrations.

“I would like to congratulate Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for organizing such a grand event. A new history and record are being created here,” Fadnavis said.

Expressing his joy, Fadnavis highlighted the significance of this year’s Kumbh Mela, stating that the grand religious event aligns with a rare astrological convergence occurring after 144 years.

The Maha Kumbh Mela, considered the largest spiritual gathering in the world, attracts millions of devotees from across India and beyond. The event, held once every 12 years, holds deep religious importance for Hindus, who believe that bathing at the Sangam washes away sins and grants moksha (liberation).

The festival sees participation from saints, sadhus, and spiritual leaders, along with political figures and common devotees. Fadnavis’s visit underscores the deep cultural and spiritual connection that leaders share with such ancient traditions.

The Uttar Pradesh government has made elaborate security and logistical arrangements to ensure a smooth experience for devotees. Thousands of security personnel, medical teams, and volunteers are stationed at the venue.

The ongoing Maha Kumbh 2025 is expected to break previous records in terms of attendance. With its unique spiritual atmosphere and historic significance, the festival continues to be a symbol of India’s rich religious heritage.
