Maharashtra Coldplay concert: Cyber Department established guidelines to prevent ticket scalping Maharashtra’s Coldplay concert tickets will feature names and QR codes, as the Cyber Department has established guidelines to prevent ticket scalping. In response to claims regarding the black market for tickets to the Coldplay concert in Navi Mumbai, the Maharashtra Cyber Department has introduced a series of regulations that online ticketing platforms must adhere to for upcoming events starting December 15. The police have made a special allowance for the Maroon 5 concert on December 3, permitting the use of standard tickets instead of name-based ones, due to the insufficient time for ticketing platforms to adjust accordingly. Coldplay, under the leadership of frontman Chris Martin, has established itself as a significant presence in the international music landscape for many years. The band is celebrated for iconic tracks like Viva la Vida, Yellow, A Sky Full of Stars, and Paradise, and has garnered acclaim for their captivating live shows. The cyber cell has officially acknowledged a rising trend in complaints related to technical issues and irregularities on ticketing platforms, especially for events where demand significantly surpasses supply, resulting in disappointment for true fans. Starting December 15, it will be compulsory to implement name-based ticketing for events that are in high demand or likely to sell out. The name of the ticket holder must be clearly printed on the ticket or integrated into the QR code of an RFID wristband. Attendees will be required to present a government-issued identification card for verification on the event day. The Maharashtra Cyber Department has issued a notice to BookMyShow, which also extends its guidelines to other digital ticketing platforms. This notice presents a comprehensive framework designed to promote fairness and transparency in the ticket sales process. Other measures that the platforms are expected to follow include deployment of artificial intelligence-powered systems to filter out bot traffic from legitimate users during ticket sales, using of a waitlist system and monitoring repeated attempts to bypass the queue, tracking and reporting patterns of suspicious activity, and so on.
