Maharashtra: Devendra Fadnavis Announces ‘One State, One Registration’ Policy For Land Documentation
Mumbai: Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced the implementation of the ‘One State, One Registration’ concept, allowing citizens to register land documents at any sub-registrar office across Maharashtra, regardless of location. This move is expected to simplify land registrations and reduce corruption.
Addressing the media on Wednesday, Fadnavis also revealed plans for a faceless system to enable online document registration for specific revenue-related transactions, providing convenience for citizens from the comfort of their homes.
Currently, citizens must visit designated sub-registrar offices for property sales, rental agreements, and other registrations, which often leads to overcrowding and delays. The new system will alleviate these issues, improve efficiency, and ensure the government continues to generate revenue while reducing citizens’ inconvenience.
Fadnavis further highlighted the introduction of GIS-based e-surveys for land measurement and the establishment of land certification centers in 30 locations to make land records services more accessible. Additionally, under the Swamitva Yojana, rural property ownership cards will be distributed through drone surveys and GIS mapping of village lands.
The state also plans to digitize the land acquisition process, develop a website for the same, introduce new sand policies, and provide detailed ready reckoner rates down to plot-specific levels. Steps are also underway to streamline the process of converting Class 2 land to Class 1 land with clear guidelines.
