Maharashtra Election: Mahayuti Announces 10 ‘Guarantees’ Including Ladki Bahin Scheme, Farm Loan Waiver, 25 Lakh Jobs
Maharashtra – Ahead of the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections, the Mahayuti alliance, composed of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena, and Ajit Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), has released a manifesto detailing ten key promises. In a public gathering in Kolhapur North, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, together with Deputy Chief Ministers Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar, launched the manifesto, emphasizing their commitment to fostering “unprecedented prosperity and development” in Maharashtra.
The Mahayuti manifesto outlines a ten-point agenda aimed at economic relief, employment generation, social security, and women’s safety. Addressing the anti-incumbency sentiment, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde underscored these “guarantees” as pivotal for securing a political edge over the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi.
Highlights of the Mahayuti Manifesto
Enhanced Monthly Allowance for Women
- Ladki Bahin Yojana: Monthly allowances for eligible women will be increased from ₹1,500 to ₹2,100. Additionally, 25,000 new police recruits, predominantly women, will be hired to bolster safety across the state.
Farm Loan Waiver and Expanded Farmer Support
- Under the Shetkari Sanman Yojna, the government will enhance support to farmers, raising annual financial aid to ₹15,000 and offering a 20% subsidy on the Minimum Support Price (MSP).
Higher Pension for Senior Citizens
- Monthly pensions for senior citizens will rise from ₹1,500 to ₹2,100, aimed at ensuring financial security in their later years.
Stable Prices for Essential Commodities
- A Price Stabilisation Scheme will be implemented to control the costs of essential goods, safeguarding households from inflation.
Job Creation and Skill Training
- To tackle youth unemployment, Mahayuti pledges to create 25 lakh jobs. Monthly stipends of ₹10,000 will be provided for skill training to 10 lakh students.
Infrastructure Development in Rural Areas
- Roads in 45,000 villages will be paved, focusing on improved rural infrastructure.
Increased Wages and Security for Anganwadi and ASHA Workers
- Monthly salaries for Anganwadi and ASHA workers will increase to ₹15,000, along with insurance coverage to enhance their financial security.
30% Reduction in Electricity Bills
- A 30% cut in electricity bills, supported by investments in renewable energy, is promised to promote environmental sustainability.
Basic Needs for All
- The manifesto commits to ensuring access to basic necessities like food and shelter for all residents.
Vision Maharashtra 2029
- Within the first 100 days of being elected, the alliance promises to unveil Vision Maharashtra 2029, a roadmap for transformative development across the state.
The Mahayuti alliance highlighted these initiatives as essential to address issues faced by diverse sections of society. These pledges follow a series of recent initiatives by the Maharashtra government, which has already implemented ₹1 lakh crore in benefits since July to boost economic and social welfare.
