Murud: Pickup Truck Carrying Water Bottles Falls Into Sea at Agardanda Jungle Jetty; Watch
Murud: This morning at Murud’s Agardanda Jungle Jetty, a pickup truck carrying water bottles for the 8 AM ferry lost control due to the steep slope and plunged into the sea before boarding. The truck’s driver escaped unharmed after the vehicle fell, resulting in no casualties. However, he was admitted to the hospital after accidentally ingesting seawater and is reported to be in stable condition.
The government had recently introduced a ferry service between Agardanda and Dighi to connect Shrivardhan and Murud talukas. Local sources and drivers noted that accidents have become frequent due to the steep incline at the Agardanda jetty, which makes it difficult for drivers of heavy vehicles to maintain control. Motorcyclists and other drivers also struggle to navigate the slope, raising concerns that this jetty, built at a significant cost, has proven ineffective for safe and efficient transport.
