Maharashtra govt imposes fresh Covid restrictions ; schools closed till February 15

The Maharashtra state government on Saturday, January 8, 2022 imposed fresh curbs in view of the rising Covid-19 cases. The guidelines state that all schools and colleges will remain shut for physical classes till February 15, 2022. The decision was announced after the review meeting was held in Mumbai in view of the increasing Covid cases in Maharashtra.

Below are the fresh Covid restrictions in Maharashtra :

The restrictions will be imposed from January 10, 2022 starting at 00.00 hours.

A night curfew will be imposed on the state during these hours from January 10.

Public gatherings of more than 5 people will be prohibited from 11 pm to 5 am.

Schools and colleges will remain shut for physical classes till February 15.

Private offices are advised that not more than 50 percent of regular staff be reached. Only vaccinated employees to attend office physically.

Maximum of 50 people in Marriages

Maximum of 20 people in funeral / last rites

Maximum of 50 people in social / religious / cultural / political gatherings

Coaching Classes : Activities required to be taken by various Educational Boards for Class X and XII students. Administrative activities and activities to be undertaken by Teachers other than classroom teachings.

Swimming pools, gyms, SPA’s, Wellness centers and Beauty Salons to remain closed

Hair cutting saloons : 50 percent capacity, to be closed from 10 PM to 7 AM everyday. Incase of any setup with multiple activities, other activities shall remain closed. These hair cutting saloons must adhere to strict CAB and all the persons engaged must be fully vaccinated.

Entertainment Parks, Zoons, Museums, Forts and other ticketed places / events for the general public. Local tourist spots remain closed.

Shopping malls, market complexes with restricted entry – 50 percent capacity, Information about fully capacity as well as present visitors must be displayed on a notice board outside. RAT testing booths / kiosks. Only fully vaccinated persons to be allowed. These places remain closed from 10 PM to 8 AM everyday. 

Hotels, restaurants, cinemas, the auditorium will remain open till 10 pm only at 50 per cent capacity. Restaurants, eateries with 50 percent capacity. Only fully vaccinated persons to be allowed. These places remain closed from 10 PM to 8 AM on all days. Home delivery allowed all days.

Natyagriha, Cinema Theatres – to operate with 50 percent capacity. Only fully vaccinated persons to be allowed. 

Domestic Travel – Double vaccination or mandatory negative RTPCR test report valid from upto 72 hours of the time of arrival into the state. This shall apply to air, train, as well as road passengers.

Public Transport – Only for fully vaccinated persons, regular timings
