Maharashtra Govt To Launch 60 Private Document Registration Offices In Six Months
Pune, October 28, 2025: The Department of Registration and Stamps has announced plans to open 60 private document registration offices across Maharashtra within the next six months. The first phase of this initiative will begin in Pune and Mumbai.
Under this new system, citizens will have the option to register documents at private centers offering additional amenities—such as air-conditioned waiting areas and refreshment services—by paying an extra service fee of up to ₹6,000.
The move aims to streamline and modernize the document registration process. Officials said tenders have already been invited, and the contract will be awarded to agencies quoting the lowest rates.
A total of 60 centers will be established statewide, with 30 offices in major cities including Pune, Mumbai, Thane, Nashik, Sambhajinagar, and Nagpur in the initial phase.
Each center will include two government officials—a deputy registrar and a clerk—to oversee operations. The state government expects to collect standard registration and stamp duties along with up to ₹6,000 in additional service fees from each registration.
