“Maharashtra Rain Update: Meteorological Department Forecasts Heavy Rainfall in the Next 48 Hours

Following the arrival of Ganapati Bappa, Maharashtra has witnessed a continuous spell of heavy rainfall over the past week. The Meteorological Department now predicts another 48 hours of heavy rain for the state.

Currently, intense downpours are drenching Mumbai and the Konkan region, with a low-pressure system extending from Konkan to the Goa coast. This atmospheric setup is expected to further enhance the conducive conditions for rainfall across the state. Consequently, a significant portion of Maharashtra is poised to experience heavy rainfall in the coming 48 hours, as reported by the Meteorological Department.

The Meteorological Department’s Pune Observatory has issued a heavy rain warning for Konkan and several districts in Madhya Maharashtra, including Kolhapur. An ‘Orange Alert’ is in effect for Kolhapur district, while ‘Yellow Alerts’ have been issued for Pune, Sangli, and Satara districts. Additionally, rain warnings have been issued for select districts in Vidarbha and Marathwada.

Farmers are urged to take precautions to protect their crops amidst these weather conditions. On Sunday, numerous districts in the state witnessed substantial rainfall, particularly in Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, and Satara, leading to overflowing rivers and streams. This sustained rainfall has significantly bolstered water levels in dams throughout the region.”
