Maharashtra: New Rule Allows Fresh Private Students To Appear For SSC, HSC Supplementary Exams In July-August 2025
Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) issues notices to few coaching centres relating to IIT-JEE & NEET for misleading claims and unfair trade practices
For the first time, new private students will be allowed to appear in the supplementary SSC (Class 10) and HSC (Class 12) exams to be held in July-August 2025, as per a recent decision by the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE). Until now, only students who had registered for the February-March exams were eligible to take the supplementary exams. This change aims to ensure that students do not lose an academic year.
The announcement was made through a press release by Board Secretary Devidas Kulaal. Private students can apply for the Class 10 and 12 exams by filling out Form No. 17. Interested candidates must register online between April 15 and May 15, 2025. During this period, students must complete the application, pay the fees, print the acknowledgment, and submit original documents to the designated schools or junior colleges mentioned in their application.
It is important to note that these new students can only apply within the specified dates using the regular fee structure. No provision for late or extended fee payments will be available.
Before filling out the online form, private students are advised to gather necessary details such as school or college codes, subject plans, medium of instruction, and preferred stream. During the registration process, students will see a list of eligible schools or junior colleges based on their address and chosen language medium. From this list, they must select the institution for exam submission.
The selected institutions will be responsible for all exam-related assessments, including project work, practical exams, oral exams, and grading of specific subjects. More information is available on the official website: http://www.mahasscboard.in.
Opportunity for Open School Students:
Students who have passed Classes 5 and 8 through the Maharashtra State Open School Board can also register as private candidates for the Class 10 exam. Once they receive their enrollment certificate online, they must submit their exam application along with the fees within the given timeframe.
“This is the first time such a decision has been taken to avoid academic loss for students who were not part of the February-March session,” said Sharad Gosavi, Chairperson of the Maharashtra State Board.
