Maharashtra Rain Alert: IMD Issues Orange Alert For Vidarbha, Heavy Rain Likely In Several Districts Over Next 48 Hours
Maharashtra, May 9: A major weather change has brought relief from the intense summer heat across Maharashtra, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing rain alerts for several parts of the state over the next 48 hours.
According to weather officials, a cyclonic system active over North India has triggered instability in Maharashtra’s atmosphere, leading to the possibility of thunderstorms, gusty winds and moderate to heavy rainfall in multiple districts.

Orange Alert Issued For Vidarbha Districts
The impact is expected to be strongest in the Vidarbha region, where the IMD has issued an Orange Alert for Yavatmal and Chandrapur, warning of heavy rainfall and storm activity.
A Yellow Alert has also been declared for districts including Akola, Amravati, Bhandara, Gondia, Nagpur and Washim.
Rain Likely In Western Maharashtra And Marathwada
Apart from Vidarbha, rain activity is also expected in parts of Western Maharashtra and Marathwada. Districts such as Kolhapur, Sangli and Solapur are likely to witness thunderstorms and rain showers.
In the Marathwada region, rainfall has been forecast for Nanded, Latur and Dharashiv.
Humid Conditions To Continue In Mumbai, Konkan
While several districts are expected to receive rainfall, weather officials said humid and warm conditions are likely to continue in Mumbai and parts of the North Konkan region.
Authorities have advised citizens, especially in Vidarbha, to remain cautious during thunderstorms and avoid unnecessary travel during periods of heavy rain and lightning activity.
