This year, the number of heat stroke patients is on the rise because of the increasing heat across the entire state. As per information, since March, around 202 heat stroke patients have been reported in the state, out of which 143 patients are from the last 22 days.

In Pune, there are seven cases of heatstroke. Thankfully, none of the patients have been reported dead. Five of the seven victims of heat stroke were from the rural area while two were from the city. In the meantime, both the Pune victims received treatment in private hospitals and were discharged.

Given the potential risk, the health department has urged caution. Previously, the state had 41 cases of heat stroke between March 1 and April 4, but by April 26 there were 184 cases recorded. It has now surpassed 200. Sunstroke can cause several signs and symptoms, including headache, dry skin, yellow urine, scanty urine, red areas on the body, oedema in the hands, feet, and heels, muscle aches, and burning eyes.

These days, the Nashik District’s average temperature is about 38 °C. The majority of these 23 patients were discovered in the district of Nashik. There are reports of 21 cases from Buldhana, 20 each from Dhule and Jalna and 18 from Solapur. In other districts, there are less than 10. According to representatives of the health department, all districts have the resources available to treat patients suffering from heat stroke and the residents should exercise more caution. Additionally, they have requested that hospitals maintain a sufficient supply of medications for these illnesses.
