The Maharashtra Regional Transport Office (RTO) convened a key meeting yesterday to evaluate the department’s operations and strategize for the upcoming fiscal year. With a revenue target of ₹14,875 crore for 2024-25, the transport department has been instructed to intensify efforts to meet this significant goal. One of the major decisions taken was to establish new transport offices in municipal corporation areas across the state. The process will include detailed mapping of vehicle owners to ensure efficient service delivery. Currently, Maharashtra has 57 transport offices, with the addition of a new office in the Mira Bhayandar municipal area bringing the total to 58.

The feasibility of installing jammers on seized vehicles and allowing them to be parked at owners’ premises was also discussed to streamline enforcement measures. The meeting saw participation from senior officials, including Transport Commissioner Vivek Bhimanwar, Additional Transport Commissioner Bharat Kalskar, Joint Secretary Holkar, Joint Transport Commissioner Shailesh Kamat, and others. These initiatives underscore the government’s commitment to strengthening the transport sector and enhancing operational efficiency across the state.
