Pune: The Maharashtra education department is making efforts to implement the decision to start the academic year for schools in the state from April 1, beginning this year (2025-26).

School Education Minister Pankaj Bhoyar assured that there is no confusion regarding the decision, and officials at the district and taluka levels are coordinating to ensure a smooth transition.

Speaking at a review meeting at Balbharti, Bhoyar stated that first-grade textbooks will follow the CBSE curriculum this year, with gradual changes planned for higher classes.

He also mentioned the launch of ‘CM Shri’ schools modeled after PM Shri schools, focusing on improving quality education.

Additionally, the government plans to introduce ‘Anand Nivasi Gurukul’ in Vidyaniketan schools to provide specialized training in arts, sports, and music. A law is also being formulated to regulate pre-primary education and address fee reimbursement concerns under RTE.
