The India Meteorological Department has issued a heatwave warning as Maharashtra prepares for an extremely hot start to May, with temperatures expected to rise sharply across the state.

According to the forecast for May 1, which coincides with Maharashtra Day, dry weather conditions will prevail across most regions. A yellow alert has been issued for Amravati, Nagpur, and Wardha, where heatwave conditions are likely to intensify.

Regional Weather Forecast

Konkan Region:
Weather will remain largely dry, with humid conditions along coastal areas. Minimum temperatures are expected between 25°C and 27°C, while maximum temperatures may range from 33°C to 35°C.

West Maharashtra:
The region will continue to experience intense heat. Minimum temperatures are likely to stay between 22°C and 25°C, with maximum temperatures rising to 36°C–39°C.

Marathwada:
Higher heat intensity is expected, with minimum temperatures between 23°C and 26°C and maximum temperatures possibly reaching 38°C–41°C.

Vidarbha (Amravati Division):
Heatwave conditions will persist, with minimum temperatures between 24°C and 27°C and maximum temperatures likely to touch 40°C–43°C. Residents may experience significant discomfort due to rising heat.

Nagpur Division:
Under yellow alert, minimum temperatures are expected between 25°C and 28°C, while maximum temperatures may soar to 42°C–44°C. Authorities have advised people to avoid stepping out during peak afternoon hours.

Wardha and Surrounding Areas:
Hot conditions will continue, with minimum temperatures between 25°C and 27°C and maximum temperatures reaching 41°C–43°C. Citizens have been urged to take necessary precautions to avoid heat-related illnesses.

North Maharashtra:
The region will experience hot and dry weather, with maximum temperatures ranging from 38°C to 42°C over the next few days.

The IMD has cautioned that the prevailing heatwave conditions are likely to continue in the coming days, and residents across Maharashtra are advised to stay hydrated and limit outdoor exposure during peak heat hours.
