Weather Update: IMD Issues Red And Orange Alerts For Next 24 Hours As Heavy Rain Batters Maharashtra
After the initial arrival of the monsoon, rains across Maharashtra had briefly subsided, resulting in rising temperatures and increased humidity. However, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has now predicted the return of heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds in several parts of the state.
Scattered showers were recorded in parts of Konkan and Central Maharashtra on Wednesday, while other areas continued to experience hot and humid weather under cloudy skies.
For today, June 5, the IMD has issued a yellow alert for the following districts, warning of possible thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds:
Konkan Region: Thane, Mumbai, Raigad, Ratnagiri
Central Maharashtra: Dhule, Jalgaon, Nashik, Ahilyanagar (Ahmednagar), Satara, Sangli, Solapur
Marathwada: Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (Aurangabad), Dharashiv (Osmanabad)
Vidarbha: Buldhana, Akola, Amravati, Washim, Yavatmal, Wardha, Nagpur, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli
The forecast suggests that over the next three days, regions across Konkan, Central Maharashtra, Marathwada, and Vidarbha are likely to witness light to moderate rainfall, along with thunder, lightning, and gusty winds. Citizens are advised to remain cautious and follow weather updates regularly.
