Maharashtra: Ration Card Holders Must Complete e-KYC By June 30 To Continue Receiving Free Scheme Benefits

In a major move to enhance transparency and prevent fraud in the ration distribution system, the central government has made e-KYC mandatory for all eligible ration card holders. If you haven’t completed your e-KYC yet, you must do so by June 30, 2025, or your name may be removed from the ration scheme list, and you could lose access to free or subsidised food grains.

Why is e-KYC Important?

To streamline the ration distribution system and eliminate fraudulent or ineligible beneficiaries, the government has made e-KYC mandatory. Through this process, each beneficiary’s identity is verified and linked with their Aadhaar card.

This step will ensure that only eligible families receive the benefits, removing ineligible or fake ration card holders from the system.

Deadline Extended to June 30

Earlier, the last date to complete e-KYC was March 31, 2025. However, considering the public response, the deadline has now been extended to June 30, 2025, providing a final opportunity for those who haven’t yet completed the process.

What if Your Name Is Already Removed?

If you have already completed the e-KYC process but your name has still been excluded from the list, you must immediately contact your local ration shop or the food and civil supplies office. Carry your Aadhaar card, mobile number, and any other required documents to reapply.

How to Complete the e-KYC?

Online Method:

  • Visit your state’s public distribution system (PDS) website.
  • Log in and complete the e-KYC process using your Aadhaar number and OTP verification.

Offline Method:

  • Visit the nearest ration shop or government centre.
  • Carry your Aadhaar card and mobile number and complete the process through biometric verification.

Completing the e-KYC is mandatory to continue availing of free or subsidised food grains. Failing to do so in time may result in losing access to scheme benefits.
