MUMBAI: Maharashtra has experienced heavy rainfall on Friday and Saturday, leading to flood-like conditions in Nagpur, Vidarbha. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted heavy to very heavy rainfall in various regions, including Konkan, Vidarbha, and parts of central Maharashtra.

Key Highlights:

  • Intense Rainfall Forecast: The IMD predicts heavy to very heavy rainfall in Raigad and Ratnagiri in Konkan, Satara and Kolhapur in central Maharashtra, and Akola, Amravati, Nagpur, Wardha, and Yavatmal in Vidarbha.
  • Widespread Rain in Major Cities: Mumbai, Palghar, Thane, Pune, Dhule, Jalgaon, and Kolhapur are expected to receive heavy rain.
  • Depression Over Coastal Odisha: A depression near Odisha’s coast is influencing weather patterns, leading to a low-pressure area extending from southern Gujarat to northern Kerala.
  • Orange and Yellow Alerts Issued: Orange alerts are issued for districts with expected intense rainfall, including Raigad, Chandrapur, Nagpur, and Wardha. Yellow alerts are in place for Palghar, Thane, Mumbai, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Nanded, Gondia, Bhandara, and Gadchiroli.

  • Today: Heavy rain is expected in most parts of Konkan, Vidarbha, and many areas of central Maharashtra. Marathwada will also experience significant rainfall.
  • Tomorrow: Rainfall will continue in Konkan, central Maharashtra, Marathwada, and Vidarbha. Orange alerts are extended to Raigad, Ratnagiri, Akola, Amravati, Yavatmal, Wardha, Nagpur, and the ghats of Satara.
  • Next Two Days: Raigad and Ratnagiri will see continued heavy rainfall. Amravati and Sindhudurg are also likely to experience very heavy rain.
