Maharashtra Weather Update: Rising Heat Wave Grips Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur & Marathwada
The scorching heatwave continues to intensify across Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur, Marathwada, and Vidarbha, with temperatures soaring up to 38°C in several cities. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had already issued a heatwave warning for the state, and the rising mercury is making outdoor conditions increasingly harsh.
Heatwave Alert Across Maharashtra
Over the past few days, Maharashtra has been witnessing a steady rise in temperature, with humid and hot weather dominating major regions. The IMD has placed Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur, Marathwada, and Vidarbha under a yellow alert as temperatures continue to climb.
- Mumbai & Konkan Region: The afternoon heat in Mumbai has become intense, with residents experiencing high humidity levels. Coastal areas, including Raigad and Konkan, are also recording consistent temperature spikes.
- Pune: The city recorded a maximum temperature of 38.9°C, with experts predicting further increases in the coming days.
- Marathwada & Vidarbha: Heatwave-like conditions prevail in Aurangabad (Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar), Beed, Parbhani, Jalna, Nanded, and Hingoli, with Akola reaching 38.8°C. Chandrapur has also seen a steady rise in temperature.
Heatwave to Continue Till Holi, April & May to be Hotter
Weather experts predict that the heatwave will persist over the next few days, including during Holi celebrations. The IMD has warned that April and May will witness even higher temperatures compared to March.
Precautionary Measures for Citizens
As the heatwave intensifies, the IMD advises residents to take necessary precautions, especially while stepping outdoors:
- Avoid direct sun exposure during peak afternoon hours.
- Stay hydrated and consume plenty of fluids.
- Wear light-colored, loose-fitting clothing.
- Use sunscreen and carry protective gear like hats and sunglasses.
