Mahindra Plans Mega Manufacturing Hub in Maharashtra with ₹15,000 Crore Commitment
Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) has unveiled an ambitious long-term plan to significantly scale up its manufacturing presence in Maharashtra, committing an investment of ₹15,000 crore over the next ten years. The auto major will establish its largest integrated production facility for automobiles and tractors in Nagpur, marking a major boost for industrial development in the Vidarbha region.
The upcoming manufacturing complex will span nearly 1,500 acres in Vidarbha and will be supported by a dedicated 150-acre supplier park in Sambhajinagar. According to the company, the new plant is expected to begin production in 2028 and will play a key role in meeting future domestic and global demand.
On the stock market front, shares of Mahindra & Mahindra were trading slightly lower on Friday. At 14:03 IST, the stock was quoted at ₹3,565.05 on the BSE, down ₹6.35 or 0.18 percent.
As part of the broader ₹15,000 crore expansion strategy, Mahindra will also acquire land in the Igatpuri–Nashik belt to expand its existing product and engine manufacturing capacities. This land acquisition will also support the growth of Mahindra’s Advanced Technology business. In total, the company plans to secure more than 2,000 acres across three different locations in Maharashtra to further strengthen its manufacturing network.
The supplier park planned at Sambhajinagar is designed to enhance the overall manufacturing ecosystem. By bringing key partners closer to production sites, the park will improve logistics efficiency, encourage higher localisation, and strengthen collaboration across the value chain. Components produced here will cater not only to the upcoming Nagpur facility but also to Mahindra’s existing plants in Chakan and Nashik.
The investment announcement was made during Advantage Vidarbha, a three-day flagship event aimed at showcasing Vidarbha as a rapidly emerging industrial and manufacturing hub in India.
Once fully operational, the Nagpur facility will have an annual capacity of over five lakh vehicles and one lakh tractors. It will support Mahindra Auto’s next-generation platforms, including the NU_IQ architecture, and will be capable of producing vehicles across multiple powertrains—internal combustion engines (ICE), electric vehicles (EVs), and future technologies—for both Indian and international markets.
As the world’s largest tractor manufacturer by volume, Mahindra expects the new facility to further cement its leadership position in the farm equipment segment while also strengthening its automotive portfolio.
Commenting on the development, Rajesh Jejurikar, Executive Director and CEO (Auto and Farm Sector), Mahindra & Mahindra, said the project represents a significant milestone in the company’s manufacturing journey. He noted that the integrated facility combines scale, flexibility, and advanced technology to support the company’s next generation of vehicles and tractors. Jejurikar also reaffirmed Mahindra’s commitment to deepening its partnership with the state of Maharashtra through this transformative investment.
