Maithili Manakwad becomes first woman president of Rotary Club of Poona

Maithili Manakwad, a resident of Windsor Avenue in Wanorie, has been recently installed as the president of the 86-year-old Rotary Club of Poona. Rtn Maithili Manakawad is the first lady president of the club which is the 6th oldest in India and the oldest Rotary Club in Pune / Raigad District, established in Pune in 1936.

The installation ceremony of the president and board of directors for RY 2022-23 of Rotary Club of Poona, took place on 4th July 2022 at Royal Connaught Boat Club, Pune.

Chief guest Dist. Governor Dr. Anil Parmar, of RI Dist 3131 installed Rtn Maithili Manakawad as the president, and Rtn PP Sanjay Kher as secretary along with other directors of the Board. The event was attended by several past dist Governors, district officers of Rotary.

The outgoing President Rtn Col. Bharat Haladi gave a report of the year gone by, of various activities implemented throughout the year. This was followed by an award ceremony to felicitate all rotarians for their outstanding contribution in various activities.

Addressing the club after being installed, President Maithili Manakwad, gave her vision and areas of focus for the coming year, which included women empowerment, strengthening the club’s image and programmes for the underprivileged.
