Mango Prices Rise in Pune Ahead of Akshaya Tritiya Amid Delayed Supply
Late crop arrival and festive demand push Alphonso rates up by Rs.200–Rs.300 per dozen
With Akshaya Tritiya on April 19 approaching, mango prices in Pune have started increasing due to delayed arrivals and rising festive demand.
The festival, considered highly auspicious, traditionally marks the peak arrival of Alphonso mango in Maharashtra, leading to a seasonal surge in demand. However, traders say this year’s crop has been delayed by nearly a month because of unseasonal rains.
Due to this supply gap, mango prices have already gone up by ₹200 to ₹300 per dozen compared to the same time last year. Sellers expect prices to rise further as the festival nears and demand continues to grow.
In areas like Tulshibaug, Alphonso mangoes are currently priced between ₹1,000 and ₹1,400 per dozen, depending on size and quality. Meanwhile, in Deccan Gymkhana, prices are even higher, ranging from ₹1,400 to ₹2,000 per dozen.
Traders believe that unless supply improves soon, mango lovers may have to pay even more during the festive season.
