A devastating fire broke out around 5 a.m. in the Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar slum area of Chandan Nagar, Pune, causing widespread destruction. The blaze led to the explosion of more than 10 gas cylinders and engulfed over 50 shanties in flames.
Firefighters swiftly responded to the emergency, with 15 fire engines and a team of over 80 personnel, including Fire Chief Devendra Potphode, reaching the spot to bring the situation under control. Thanks to their prompt action, more than 100 gas cylinders were safely removed from the site, preventing further damage.
As per initial reports, there have been no injuries so far. Authorities continue to monitor the situation and assess the extent of the damage.
