On 25th February (Sunday), an e-waste & plastic waste collection drive ‘PEHEL-2024’ will be organized at over 300 locations in Pune.

As per further information, every year ‘Swachhata Saptah’ (Cleanliness Week) is celebrated by Pune Municipal Corporation on the occasion of Sant Gadge Baba Jayanti. Various activities are organized on this occasion. Like last year, Pune Municipal Corporation, Cummins India Foundation, KPIT and local social organizations in the field of environment have jointly organized ‘PEHEL-2024’ e-waste and plastic waste collection drive in Pune.

In this campaign, more than 300 collection centers will be set up in the entire Pune city on February 25 and citizens should visit & show their active participation from 9 am to 1 pm. Under this, e-waste and plastic will be collected at certain places on February 24 as well.

Separate collection, proper management and scientific recycling of these wastes is the need of the day as a solution to the problem of e-waste and plastic waste. Citizens can participate in this by setting up collection centers at their workplaces or residential societies or as volunteers. These items will be donated to needy students and educational institutions. The remaining e-waste and plastic waste will be handed over to organizations registered by the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board. Further recycling of waste will be done scientifically by these organizations.
