Breaking gender stereotypes, men who want to look dapper for Diwali are swarming salons for upscale beauty services.

This holiday season has seen a spike in male grooming appointments at salons, offering services ranging from 24K gold facials to opulent pedicures.

An owner of a Wanowrie salon reported that while many people used to come in for simple grooming services like hair color or haircuts, more and more men are now coming in for advanced brightening facials, massages, and hair spas.

The majority of men have no problem treating themselves to a few thousand dollars this Diwali.

Why can’t men feel good about themselves and look good? asked a Kalyani Nagar resident. He made an appointment for a facial and beard trim because he has a few events to attend over the next few days.

This Diwali, men have upped their beauty game with facials and pedicures.

Although the majority of walk-ins are women, many men visit the Kothrud salon for hair spa services, haircuts, beard trimming, and detan scrubs and masks, according to the manager of the salon.

Men spend between 45 and an hour on services like detan packs, hair spas, and treatments for sensitive scalps.

Approximately twenty men visit the salon each day, according to another manager of the salon. Once discounts are applied, the average bill for each customer is between Rs 6,000 and Rs 7,000.
