MERS Dial 112 Control Room set up in Pune Police HQ

Citizens across Maharashtra seeking help from Police can now dial 112. The Maharashtra Emergency Response System (MERS) is established to facilitate citizens to call in emergency. The helpline is set up by the Maharashtra state police to report about any untoward incident to the police and seek help. The control room set up at Pune Police Head Quarters was inaugurated at the hands of Amitabh Gupta, Commissioner, Pune Police and Sandeep Karnik, Joint Commissioner of Police, Dr Jalinder Supekar, additional commissioner of police, administration were also present.

In order to attend the calls / complaints promptly, the department has also been given 50 four wheelers and 107 two wheelers which will be helpful in attending to the complaints.

The Police control room was also recently renovated too. This technology driven MERS 112 project will ensure the police’s response time to any emergency. The vehicles will have mobile data terminals and GPS systems too.
