New Delhi: The Ministry of Defence has issued a strong advisory to media houses, digital platforms, and individuals, urging them to refrain from live coverage or real-time reporting of defence operations and troop movements. The Ministry highlighted the serious risks such disclosures pose to operational safety and national security, referencing past incidents such as the Kargil War, 26/11 Mumbai attacks, and the Kandahar hijacking.

Citing Clause 6(1)(p) of the Cable Television Networks (Amendment) Rules, 2021, the Ministry emphasized that only authorized personnel are permitted to share updates during anti-terror operations. It has called for responsible journalism and public awareness to prevent jeopardizing sensitive missions.

Meanwhile, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday held a high-level security review meeting at South Block, following a foiled large-scale drone attack by Pakistan on Thursday. The meeting was attended by key military leaders, including Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi, Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh, and Defence Secretary RK Singh.

This escalation comes after Operation Sindoor, where Indian Armed Forces struck nine terror camps across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) on Wednesday. The strikes were in response to the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam.

During the night of May 8–9, Pakistani forces launched multiple drone strikes and ceasefire violations (CFVs) along the western border and the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir. The Indian Army successfully repelled the attacks, stating, “A strong response was delivered to Pakistan’s ceasefire violations. We remain committed to protecting India’s sovereignty and will meet any aggression with force.”

A key element in India’s successful defence was the indigenously developed Akash surface-to-air missile system. Defence officials confirmed its deployment by both the Army and Air Force along the Pakistan border. The Akash system played a pivotal role in intercepting and neutralizing the incoming drone threats.

The Akash missile system is a state-of-the-art, medium-range air defence platform capable of countering multiple aerial threats. It features real-time sensor data processing, target evaluation, and phased-array radar guidance. Its mobile and scalable design allows for flexible deployment in both group and autonomous modes..
