A man who tried to hide his travel history from his wife by tearing a few pages of his passport led to his arrest on Thursday.

The 30-year-old man was barred from boarding a flight to Maldives From Mumbai International Airport on Thursday as investigating officers found that few pages of his passport was missing.  Upon interrogation, he confessed that he had destroyed the pages to hide facts. A case was filed against him in Mumbai under the relevant sections of Indian Penal code consists of 420, 465, 468 and 471. He has also been charged under the Passport Act and he was arrested by Mumbai police.

According to the police, before getting married, in the 2019 he had visited some foreign countries and later had torn at least 10 pages from his passport to hide his travel history from his wife. He destroyed pages number 3 to 6 and 31 to 34 in the passport in 2019. It contained a note that he had gone to Thailand.

Following the arrest he was produced in the Andheri Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court on Friday. He was later released on Rs 25,000 bail.
