MLA Shirole seeks help from CM Eknath Shinde to resolve University chowk congestion issues

Pune: Shivajinagar Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Sidharth Shirole wrote to Chief Minister Eknath Shinde about the traffic jam issue at University Chowk.

Letter dated on 10 March 2023, requested Shinde to conduct a meeting with all stakeholders under chairmanship of Shinde to discuss issues related to construction of flyover at university chowk. This will help to complete the proposed project by the given deadline of January 2024.

Shidharth Shirole said, “I have requested CM Shinde to conduct meeting under his leadership with all stakeholders to get review of proposed work so that it helps to complete project on time.’’ 

MLA Shidharth Shirole said the meeting will be held within the next two to three weeks.

In his letter Shidharth Shirole stated that, because of metro construction work, commuters daily face traffic congestion at University chowk. I had raised the issue in the monsoon session but nothing had been changed. In fact, the situation has become worse.

He further wrote that concerned authorities have taken many meetings on these issues in the last six months, various traffic plans also implemented on trial basis but nothing was changed.

Hence proposed University flyover will play a crucial role to reduce traffic jams in this area. In meeting held on 1 February 2023, it was demanded to complete proposed flyover construction work by January 2024.It was also decided in meeting that, Tata company will submit detailed report on use of modern technology while constructing flyover so that it will help to reduce construction time.However no report has been submitted yet.

Hence MLA Shidharth Shirole requested CM Shinde to conduct a meeting under his leadership with all stakeholders so that construction work of proposed flyover will complete by January 2024.
