On 21st February (Wednesday), Shivajinagar MLA Siddharth Shirole met Commissioner of Pune Police Amitesh Kumar & requested to take action against night time constructions, which causes nuisance & several problems to residents, and also about increasing the number of traffic officers at Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) Chowk to minutely monitor traffic movement.

As per further information from both request letters accessed by Pune Pulse,

Night time Constructions

Siddharth Shirole said through the letter “Today, the city of Pune is growing rapidly and construction is going on in the city in a very fast pace. It has come to light that constructions are going on in the city at night time. The residents of the surrounding areas are suffering from it. Many citizens complain that the construction works go on till late at night, in which digging, loading and unloading of goods from big vehicles, running of cement concrete mixers etc cause a lot of noise and pollution problems to the citizens. It mostly affects senior citizens and children. Despite repeated notices and complaints, no action is taken. If a complaint is made to the police, minor action is taken and within a few days, the trouble resumes. I request you to look into the matter and take appropriate action.”

SPPU Chowk Traffic Movement Monitoring

Siddharth Shirole said through the letter “The work of flyover at Pune Vidyapeeth Chowk is being done by PMRDA. PMRDA plans to complete the flyover work by August 2024. Due to the ongoing work of the flyover, the citizens have to face traffic jams in the morning and evening peak hours on all the roads including Vidyapeeth Road, Old Mumbai Pune Road, Baner Road, Pashan Road, Aundh Road and Senapati Bapat Road and surrounding areas. There are long queues of vehicles. It causes a lot of inconvenience & problems to commuters and residents. I request you to regulate the traffic in peak time in a very subtle manner by deputing more police constables.”
